Guard Dog Body Armor’s Level IV ceramic 6”x8” side plates are made from a combination of Alumina and PE meeting the NIJ standard 0101.06 Leve IV standards tested by United States NTS. These level 4 plates are single curl with a waterproof polyester cover and weigh 3.2lbs each +/- .15lbs.

I am law enforcement in Ca and wear this plate in my concealed body armor. It’s a side plate but I was able to fit it center on my chest over my soft body armor. Highly recommend it.

Lightweight for what they are tested to withstand. They are thick and can take a bit to get used to being right under your arms. But, the coverage and protection are unmatched.

These side plates are great, some of the highest rated you will find ! They are not lightweight, but they are not too heavy either. I got a pair of these to go in my Sheppard plate carrier. They fit in the side pockets perfectly, no play or movement at all once placed inside and velcro pocket is all set. I have seen some companies make 6”x6” side plates, but lets be honest 6”x8” is just that much more protection to your sides so why wouldn’t you want more piece of mind knowing you have that much more protection and at a Level 4 ceramic and not some AR500/AR600 steel and risk spalling ? I give these 5 stars very good quality, once you get these in your hands and feel them for yourself you understand. Pretty fast shipping and came very well packaged in a nice box with Guard Dog’s logo on the inside, side plates came covered in plastic inside of the box so no damage to them at all, along with a sticker and a velcro patch, very nice touch ! I love me some stickers ! If you are in the market for side plates and want the best, then you know what to do ! buy these NOW ! You will not regret it at all, you will only regret not buying these and adding them to your plate carrier, and if you plate carrier doesn’t have the ability to hold side plates, then I suggest you get a Guard Dog plate carrier that does ! (Like the Sheppard plate carrier that I purchased, just saying, check out my review on it on that page as well) Thanks Guard Dog, love the products !

Recommend using laterally/horizontally if possible, plates came in good shape no complaints. the carrier I have (sheppard carrier) only allows for vertical side insert. When wearing the carrier properly, the vertical plates tend to be uncomfortable on my underarm nerves. A 6×6 option would be nice. Overall good deal.
