Introducing the Cairo Plate Carrier: The First Ultra-Premium, Mission-Ready Carrier
Named after the K-9 member of U.S. Navy SEAL Team Six who aided in the capture of Osama Bin Laden, the Cairo plate carrier stands out as an elite choice for tactical professionals. Here’s what makes it worthy of its name:
Materials
- 1000D Nylon Fabric: Renowned for its durability, this high-grade material excels in resisting abrasion, wear, and tear. The Cairo’s nylon is water-resistant and quick-drying, making it ideal for both daily use and demanding situations.
- Aviation-Grade Aluminum: The quick-release shoulder and waistband buckles are crafted from premium aluminum, ensuring an optimal strength-to-weight ratio. Rigorously tested for durability, these buckles can be operated with one hand, even in challenging conditions.
- Polymer Modular Quick Clips: The Cairo includes six modular quick clips, allowing you to easily attach accessories like backpacks to the front or back. Whether your mission involves a long hike or prone crawling, you’ll be equipped for any scenario.
Features
- Built-in Level IIIA Protection: The Cairo comes standard with front and rear ballistic panels that meet NIJ Level IIIA standards, capable of stopping 9mm, .357, .45, and .44 caliber rounds without needing additional plates. Separate pockets accommodate 10″x12″ ballistic plates for enhanced protection, allowing for seamless transitions between low-threat and high-threat scenarios.
- Placard: This accessory features clips and hook-and-loop backing for secure attachment. It includes a triple 5.56/.223 magazine pouch, two pistol magazine pouches, and an admin pouch for organized storage.
- Removable Backpack: The Cairo’s backpack can be easily attached or detached using four buckles, allowing for versatile use on hikes, during training, or as a go-bag that’s always ready.
- Pocketed Waistband: Designed for weight reduction without sacrificing durability, the waistband features three elastic pockets on each side, perfect for storing magazines, radios, or other essential gear.
M. Schultz (verified owner) –
I have purchased 3 of these ‘Cairo’ carriers with various plate combinations and I could not be more pleased with them. I have owned and used many types of plate carriers and vests in the past 40 years or so and these are definitely the best in their class. The ‘Cairo’ is very sturdy, easy to configure, and made of high quality materials throughout. The shipping is very fairly priced, and the item arrives as quickly as any I have ever experienced. I ordered a fast helmet during the night, it shipped out the next day, and I received it the following day in the afternoon. I was wearing it less than 48 hours after I had ordered it! You can not beat that!
1000D nylon, aluminum fittings, top quality hook and loop, included 3a flexible plates, included backpack, elastic waist pockets, and more make it as good as anything out there, and superior to most. I mainly use the backpack to keep my helmet with the carrier when they are not in use, but it is quite useful for other things as well.
Be aware that the plates fit very snugly in the carrier and are somewhat difficult to remove, so I put the plates into large ziploc type bags before inserting them into the carrier, with the opening of the bag facing down. This makes the plates slide out much more easily, and also keeps any rain, sweat, and other moisture from reaching the plates. It is always best to keep any plates dry, but most of these plates seem to be well sealed and not very susceptible to moisture in general. The Versa 3+ flexible plates in particular are covered in a vinyl type cover and I don’t believe that water would affect them in any way.
Some details to be aware of –
The Versa 3+ plate is pretty thick, and (as with any Level 4 plates and also SAPI type plates from other manufacturers) are difficult to both insert and remove. All of the other plates fit pretty snugly (as they should, plates should not be loose in a carrier), so be aware of this if you like to switch plate configurations often. Use the ziploc trick and it works much better.
The ‘Cairo’ plate area is pretty thick when you use the thicker plates in combination with the included 3a soft plates. You can remove the soft plates if you like, but I am using them in combination for the added protection. That is why I chose it, as protection is the ultimate goal here. For lighter weight and flexibility, you could run it with only the soft plates and it is very light and still provides protection from handgun and shotgun projectiles.
I do not tolerate sub-standard quality or performance in any of my equipment and these items and this manufacturer have met my strict standards, even without considering the very reasonable prices. Don’t hesitate to get your body armor from this manufacturer. You can buy with confidence. I will do so again as needed.
Be safe, be aware, and may you be missed by your enemies, and not by your family and friends.
