The Sheppard tactical vest is designed to be a light and high-quality plate carrier for all of our available bullet proof plates. It is crafted from a water-resistant Oxford fabric and INCLUDES removable magazine pouches, storage bags and shell holders. Our ballistic plates will fit securely and will not bounce around in the front and rear pouches. The back yolk shoulder pads are excellent for weight distribution and there is an extendable Grab Drag handle for emergency exfiltration. This vest has adjustable shoulder straps and an adjustable elastic weight band for a comfortable universal fit from small to 2XL.

*The Sheppard vest has extra thick shoulder padding. It feels stiff when new but will soften up and lot and be well worth it! To speed up the process you can take them off and twist them a few times.

The one concern I had prior to purchase, the plastic quick release pull handles. To my disappointment, the right one broke the first day in use. However, I’ve discovered one can push down and slide the release off. Therefore still functional but not as intended. The shoulder releases, which are now metal, prior were plastic, great improvement. Overall happy, but room for improvement.

This plate carrier is well made and appears durable. This has plenty points of adjustment and fits me well (I’m 6’1, 215lbs). I purchased this carrier with the Guard Dog Level 4 Plates and they fit perfectly inside. The shoulder release points are metal cobra buckles that are well made. The side quick release are plastic and seem that they could break if you tug it too hard or the wrong way, but I have no problems with them. For me, the shoulder straps are too narrow and do not disperse the weight comfortably. I’m going to have to beef up the shoulder straps at some point. Overall, this is a decent product and I am pleased with it.

Pretty good. Liked the way it felt once I got the plates in. Like the quick releases at the shoulders as well as the bottom. Only thing i wish I noticed that the mag pouch was not Mille but a pocket with Velcro on the inside. Other than that great product so far

It would be 5 stars but the molle had loose stitches on the vest in a couple spots right out of the package but not a huge deal. the vest itself is great otherwise. the plates seem great hopefully i never have to find out. Overall a great purchase. I highly recommend.

Overall quality of vest is really good for the price point. This is actually my second from Guard Dog. The only thing that is a concern is the QC Department either needs to hire some more people, or whoever is doing it needs a refresher course and or a swift kick in the ass. Had problems with the front mag carrier. The piece that is inserted and velcroed around the edges, in my opinion isn’t needed. Just needs two pieces of material sewn in between to keep the mags separated and from possibly hitting each other and making a unwanted noise especially if you’re in a zero footprint type situation. The one I received was not installed properly and I had to remove it, and then use a piece of cardboard in behind it around the edges to get it in place and properly fastened. If you try to just drop it in there in one piece, velcro catches everything. I also inserted three mags to help it hold its shape along with the cardboard so I could get the front part seated and then work my way around to the back. And maybe it’s just me, but that should be a MOLLE type of item anyway and you can still keep a velcro panel if you desire to be able to change it out to something else. As I said just my opinion. I had to wear one of these things for extended amounts of time due to the fact of what my job was in the US Military. You find out what works, what you can get by with, and what’s not even worth missing with. Duct tape doesn’t fix everything. But it’s damn close. I haven’t had a chance to wear it to the range, because we’re supposed to train like we fight, but I’ll be going tomorrow. Another thing is there should be some type of instructions as far as what and what not to do pertaining to cleaning the vest and the accessories. I know from personal experience a washing machine does wonders and you just hang it up and let it dry on its own. And since most magazines are some type of plastic now, you can put those back in the pouches and help stretch the material out. Of course I don’t mean to do this with the plates in lol! Outside of that I’m pleased, and you’ve made big strides in a short period of time. It’s never going to be perfect. And no two people are alike or have the same preferences. Believe me I had seven operators under me and they all had their little idiosyncrasies and the way they like their rig to be fitted. And I get that because I’m the same way. But your base/ vest should not have to have extensive time spent on it correcting someone else’s mistake or just lack of not giving a damn about quality control. Even though I don’t wear the uniform anymore, for the people that do, especially the ones that have their own budget and can purchase whatever their little hearts desire, QC should not be an issue. Like having to go completely back through and retie all of the cordage for the magazine pouches. Maybe that’s just me, but the way the cordage is tied, is backwards, and you shouldn’t have any excess exposed to anything. But that may be the quickest way on the manufacturing side to put those together. I do realize time is money. But you only get one life. Money is all over the damn place. Think about the fact that if it were your rig, would you take that extra two or three minutes to make sure everything was completely functional and ready to go to work.
