The Sheppard tactical vest is designed to be a light and high-quality plate carrier for all of our available bullet proof plates. It is crafted from a water-resistant Oxford fabric and INCLUDES removable magazine pouches, storage bags and shell holders. Our ballistic plates will fit securely and will not bounce around in the front and rear pouches. The back yolk shoulder pads are excellent for weight distribution and there is an extendable Grab Drag handle for emergency exfiltration. This vest has adjustable shoulder straps and an adjustable elastic weight band for a comfortable universal fit from small to 2XL.

*The Sheppard vest has extra thick shoulder padding. It feels stiff when new but will soften up and lot and be well worth it! To speed up the process you can take them off and twist them a few times.

This plate carrier is a BEAST ! Makes me feel like I have an Ironman suit on. Very comfortable and adjustable, I would definitely suggest it, if you want a robust high quality plate carrier. The velcro on this thing is industrial as well, very sturdy and “sticky” once both sides are together, so you know it’s not coming loose at all. Lots of pockets for mags on the front and sides of carrier. The quick release shoulder straps are awesome ! they are very high quality with positive “click” noise when pushed together and not wiggle and play once connected for a solid lock up. I got the sheppard with the Ridgeback M4+ plates front and rear and level 4 ceramic side plates and it’s no joke ! there is a good amount of weight with all of these installed on the sheppard, but glad I got the sheppard with those plates and not one of the other carriers, I don’t know if it would be as comfortable to be honest. And with as much weight as the Ridgeback M4+ plates add to the carrier with the side plates as well, you might not want to get this set up, if you are not a guy who lifts weights/hits the gym frequently and are a strong trained person, this will bog you down and tire you out fast ! and that’s not even loading this rig up with loaded mags front and sides just the front/rear/side plates. I’m 5’9” 180 lbs and lift weights/gym/cardio 3-4 days a week so it’s ok for me, but if you are a lazy out of shape or a skinny person with no much strength and possibly even a woman I wouldn’t go this route, you might regret getting this set up (just being honest) you might want to get lighter plates for this plate carrier then you would be ok. Shipping was pretty fast on this product as well, came very well packaged ! Cool boxes with their logo on the inside all the products came in covered in plastic inside of the boxes, so no damage to them at all, plus ! Guard Dog included a few stickers and a velcro patch ! that was a very nice touch ! thanks ! I would give the set up I purchased 5 stars and would definitely purchase again if I had to do it all over !

Overall, the Sheppard carrier equipped with Ridgeback M4+ plates is very well constructed. Initially I was concerned that the fit of the carrier would be too large for someone of my height and weight (5’7″ 150lbs) but decided to give it a try. Upon receiving it and adjusting it to my fit, it is very adjustable / customizable and fits just fine. The shoulder straps adjusted for my fit level leave some of the strap hanging off of the back a bit but the function is still there and the velcro is very strong. The plates themselves fit very snug inside the carrier itself and are secured additionally with velcro straps. They do not move or shift whatsoever which is great. The plates themselves (ridgeback M4+) fit comfortably around my chest and back and the Sheppard carrier has a nice setup for multiple pistol and rifle magazines right out of the box which is great for someone looking for a good kit without having to buy plates, find a carrier, find attachments etc. The only criticism I have, which is a minor one at that, is that the plates and carrier shipped separately via US Mail. In watching my tracking history, one of the two packages was rerouted back and forth to roughly 4 different post office locations before it arrived. That is obviously not Guard Dog’s fault, but it is something to be aware of as it can take some time to receive your order if the USPS. I am very pleased with this purchase and will buy another.

Good deal for what you get. I’ve waited a while to leave a review, after near daily use since receiving this carrier I’ve gathered these observations.
Cobra buckles are great, quick release is a great perk. Quick on and off. I think it would be great to see a reinforced tab, where the QR cord is looped.
The shoulder straps need some revisiting. I’m 6’0” 210. I pretty much had to go to the smallest possible portion of velcro for the shoulder straps. Lots of excess and I consider myself to be on the bigger side of the spectrum so smaller frames might need a better fit. Also feel like the straps would be better coming off at an angled section versus a straight vertical strap. A bit close to the neck.
Stitching could use better QC
M4+ plates are very comfortable to wear and the ventilation on the carrier helps dissipate the heat well in 100f+ weather but could be thicker to increase comfort
The molle attachments provided are more than plenty. The side rifle mag rivets are very soft and deform easily, I have to constantly reattach them so maybe the measurements came a bit short. I would prefer a 6×8 lateral side plate pouch instead. I’ve been wearing the full loadout. 5 556 mags and 3 glock mags along with 6×8 side plates. A 6×6 plate would work better as the 6×8 side plates can irritate your underarm nerves
